I have been greatly blessed by the Yankees this offseason.
It was definitely not a fun thing for any Yankee fan last postseason. I'm used to watching my boys play in October. But since that happened, I knew my Yankees would be ready to fight next season. Heaven forbid that happen two years in a row, right? But I wasn't worried, the Yankee Gods would never allow that ;) Thanks to my favorite General Manager in the world, BRIAN CASHMAN, the Yankees have pretty much done what they have needed to make it happen next year. First, the Yankees needed some starting pitching so they picked up Mr. CC Sabathia aka 2007 AL Cy Young winner along with A.J Burnett who had 18 wins playing in the AL East with the Blue Jays last year. They will be in a rotation with Chien Ming Wang (our former ACE yeah yeah), Joba Chamberlain, and most likely Andy Pettitte. Pretty sweet huh!? Then today I got the FANTASTIC news that they signed MARK TEIXEIRA a solid 1st baseman to replace Mr. Jason Giambi.
For anyone that doesn't know a lot about baseball...
This is HUGE. :)
Keep in mind Yankee haters that the Yankees have let go of almost $80 million in payroll this year after letting go of players Bobby Abreu, Giambi, Mike Mussina, Carl Pavano, Andy Pettitte and Ivan Rodriguez. So...there were holes to fill and extra money because of it.
I am SO excited for Spring. Go Yankees.
YAY!!!!

Tex and Burnett were solid adds for the yanks, however they did just sign the A-Rod of pitching...in Sabathia. (he is a phenomenal pitcher during the regular season, but as soon as he gets to a crunch game or playoffs he gets shelled... just like a-rod)
Tex was STELLAR to add, and Burnett can be a big time pitcher. arguably they have the best pitching staff, but even before the addition of the off-season signings just barely, they have spent over 1.3 BILLION dollars since 2000 JUST in player salaries.. and they have nothing to show for it.
Anyways.. love your passion for baseball, even if you are a yankees fan. (ps, Marlins ftw and they dominated in 03)
